The Papers of Jerome Krase, 197?-199? 196?-200?

This collection of papers documents Dr. Krase's career as a professor of sociology and as a social activitst. There arae materials here on Jerry Krase as a student. There are also items that document Professor Krase's writings and his deep involvement, advocacy and commitment to Brooklyn-its neighborhoods, its community associations and its people. In addition, there are research notes, writings, newsclippings and posters. And, as a professor of sociology, there are students' papers, notes, class syllabi, and student observations. Included as well are Professor Krase's presentations, grants that he received and correspondences. Jerome Krase, as part of who he was, also established the Italian-American Center at Brooklyn College. Finally, there are some photographs, audio and video materials, miscellaneous papers as well as publications such as journals, magazines, and bulletins that Professor Krase saved over the years.

Jerome Krase began his long career of teaching and scholarship at Brooklyn College as an adjunct professor in 1969. He became a full-time assistant professor in 1970 while pursuing a PhD at NYU. He achieved tenure in 1976. Professor was named Chair of the Sociology Department at Brooklyn College twice, once in 1980, and a second time in 1999, a title he held until his retirement in 2003.
